Unfortunately, the woke vandals expanded the objects of their ire to statues of the Founding Fathers because some owned slaves, and Christopher Columbus, because of the oppression of the Native Americans. According to the New York Post, a group has defaced the statue of the greatest foe of the Confederacy and slavery who ever lived.

“For the second time in under two months, a statue dedicated to former President Abraham Lincoln was defaced in Chicago.

“On Thanksgiving, a statue of a young Abraham Lincoln in Senn Park in Chicago’s Edgewater neighborhood was found covered in splotches of red paint along with the words ‘COLONIZER’ and ‘LAND BACK,’ the Chicago Tribune reported.”

Apparently, at issue is not Lincoln’s waging war on the South or his emancipation of African Americans but rather a little-known incident that occurred in the West. At the same time, the United States was aflame in Civil War.
“According to the outlet, the statue also had ‘Dakota 38’ written on it, in reference to the Dakota Sioux members who Lincoln ordered to be executed following the Dakota War of 1862.”

President Lincoln dealt with the Dakota warriors with harshness and mercy. He commuted the sentences of 264 who had been ordered executed. However, Lincoln ordered 38 to be hanged as a punishment for making war on the United States while it was preoccupied with putting down the southern rebellion,
The Gateway Pundit notes that the attack on the Lincoln statue, erected in the park in 1997, is just another battle in the Statue Wars waged between the woke vandals and those who would preserve history.
“’This was the second time a Lincoln statue had been vandalized in Chicago recently. A statue of the former president was also defaced with a similar message in Lincoln Park in October,' the report said.”

Police officers and woke vandals fought over a statue of Christopher Columbus two years earlier. City officials later removed the statue of the man credited with discovering America. Under pressure from protestors, a Chicago city commission recommended a series of new public memorials and the removal of others judged to honor white supremacy or dishonor Native Americans. The commission even suggested a further review of the Young Lincoln statue to add additional narrative to appease the woke vandals.

In other words, it looks like Chicago is prepared to give in to the woke vandals. Even so, the Chicago Police Department may or may not be at work finding the current perpetrators.
“The writing on the ground has already been removed, and the rest of the paint is expected to be cleaned up on Monday.”
Meanwhile, the Chicago Police have filed a report about the vandalism incident. The police have not revealed whether or not they have any suspects. The Chicago PD has not made any arrests as of Saturday night.
