A new survey showed that most children are afraid of climate change.

Breitbart reports that a survey of UK youth between the age of 7 and 12 found that 70% of children in that age group are now afraid of climate change.

Euronews conducted the report, which is the latest finding that even young children are learning to fear climate change based on what adults and the media tell them. The survey consisted of interviews with 1,000 children born between 2010 and 2015.

27% of those surveyed said they were specifically concerned about the impact that rising temperatures around the world are having on various animal species. About 20% were concerned about plastic pollution first and foremost.

This survey is further proof of a concept known as eco-anxiety. Essentially, this is about anxiety people experience due to changing factors in our global environment.

It also shows that more and more children are experiencing these anxieties when the school system is spending more attention and time on these issues. Thus, many people are concerned that the school system might highlight climate change concerns too much.

People on the political Left seem to have extra eco-anxiety in particular. There is a great emphasis on the issue on that political spectrum.

The study found: “a variety of emotions such as anger, sadness, guilt, and hopelessness that characterize eco-anxiety.”

This study comes as many other research points have discovered that children suffer from various issues contributing to their declining mental health. They are still dealing with many issues related to lockdowns for COVID and so much more.

Many people are looking for easy answers about why this is the case, but it often comes down to how the adults around these children respond to the various issues impacting the world today.
