Where Is The FBI? Police Identify Suspect Of Shooting At Gay Club

A suspect is in custody for allegedly shooting and killing five people in a gay club in Colorado.

The suspect is identified as 22-year-old Anderson Lee Aldrich. The shooting occurred on Saturday at Club Q. This venue caters to the LGBTQ community and often features drag shows and similar entertainment.

Aldrich allegedly entered the club shortly after midnight and immediately opened fire on the crowd as soon as he made it through the front door. The people there reported that two people fought the suspect to the best of their ability to prevent a further loss of life.

Colorado Springs Police Chief Adrian Vasquez stated the following:

"At least two heroic people inside the club confronted and fought with the suspect and were able to stop the suspect from continuing to kill and harm others. We owe them a great debt of thanks."

The suspect was injured in the shooting and is now held in protective custody.

Police arrived within 3 minutes of receiving the first 911 call and apprehended the suspect within 2 minutes of arriving on the scene.

Investigators are looking at Aldrich's possible motives and considering if they should press hate crime charges against him.

"Every person, regardless of who they are, has the right to be secure from fear and physical harm, and actions taken to strike fear in specific communities will not be tolerated in our community," said Fourth Judicial District Attorney Michael Allen.

For now, the victims' identities have not been released to the public as family members still need to notify them about this tragic event.

Two firearms were recovered at the scene, and witnesses say Aldrich used a long rifle to shoot into the crowd.

Eighteen additional victims are being treated for injuries at local hospitals. They are in various conditions at this time.
