City officials in New York defy a court’s order to reinstate workers fired for not receiving their COVID-19 vaccine.

A Staten Island judge ruled that the city must reinstate municipal workers who were terminated due to exercising their freedom not to get vaccinated. However, it seems that the city of New York is not prepared to deal with this professionally at all. Instead, the city is refusing to reinstate the workers, and it appears likely that this will all come to a head very soon.

Timothy and Nicole Rivicci are two New York residents who have suffered from being fired for not getting their vaccination. They spoke with Fox & Friends First and said that they find the fact that the city won’t reinstate them very upsetting.

Timothy stated the following:

“I was excited to be back. I’ve been out of work for about a year, and we’ve been struggling. We haven’t been getting paid….”

He continued by saying that he has had severe financial struggles and that it has not been easy to keep up with his bills or mortgage at a time like this. He wants to get back to work. He works as a firefighter, and his services could benefit the city at this time. However, his refusal to take the vaccine has put him in the crosshair of city officials who don’t seem to want to budge on their belief that the vaccine is an absolute necessity for anyone to work in the city government.

Exemption attorney Christina Martinez spoke with Todd Piro in-studio and said that the city’s refusal to reinstate workers that they have been ordered to reinstate is a blatant violation of the law. She said:

“They’re just refusing to comply, and this isn’t the first decision that has ruled that they are exceeding their authority in mandating a vaccine for city workers,”

Martinez sees it as nothing more than a power grab by local officials, and it is something that the people of New York are likely to get very tired of very soon if they aren’t already. This refusal to comply keeps good firefighters, police officers, and others out of a job. This is all happening when a crime is spiking throughout the city. Put all of that together, and you have a recipe for people being upset by the lack of compassion on the part of city officials.
