He was quoted as saying the following:
“The whole woke culture affecting our children, all these elementary, middle schools having woke culture pushed on them from the LGBTQ+ community for sexual identify and gender. We should be pushing the actual school studies. Math, social studies, science,”

Lashawn, a mother of eight from Illinois and a Democrat, generally agreed with what John had to say. She is also not thrilled that there is so much emphasis on so-called “woke culture.” It is a significant concern for her as she thinks about how this may impact her children and their performance in school. She feels that there should be more of a focus on other issues in school instead of such a priority placed on gender studies and other woke subjects.

Stephanie, an Independent voter from Arkansas, pointed out that many children are struggling with just getting back to the basics of going to school again in a post-pandemic world. She is concerned that all the focus on woke issues has pushed aside the things children should focus on. Namely, she would like to see a heavier focus on the basics of math, science, and the like.
The panel also aimed at the immigration issue. They all had different takes on the issue, but they all seemed to come around to the idea that while it is nice to want to be helpful to immigrants, other issues still deserve to be handled at this time. It will be interesting to see how this plays out in the midterms.
