Former President Donald Trump values competence in the people who work for him, whether in his various business enterprises or his presidential administration.

But he values, above all else, loyalty. The loyalty that the former President demands is absolute, not to be overridden by anything else.

According to Fox News, Trump recently sat down for an interview with that network’s Brian Kilmeade. The subject of the 2024 presidential election came up. Will Trump run? Will anyone who served in his administration run?

As it turns out, Trump took a dim view of anyone who used to work for him contesting him for the Republican nomination for President during the 2024 election cycle.

“The former President, who repeatedly teases that he’ll launch another White House bid, may not be the only member of his former administration to run in 2024, as former Vice President Mike Pence, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and former ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley have all been making plenty of early moves ahead of potential or likely presidential campaigns.

“’ Many of them have said they would never run if I run, so we’ll see if that turns out to be true,’ Trump answered after Fox News host Brian Kilmeade asked how he’d deal with facing former members of his administration.

“’ I think it would be very disloyal if they did, but that’s OK, too,’ Trump added in his Friday appearance on Fox News Radio’s ‘Brian Kilmeade Show.’”

According to Business Insider, Trump suggested that the polls favor him to win the Republican nomination no matter who else runs. “The polls have me leading by 40, 50 points. I’m leading by a lot.”

Media and political analysts believe that Trump is the odds-on favorite to win the GOP nomination. Considering the various failures of the Biden Administration, Trump has an excellent chance to win a second term.

Many possible candidates for President would likely bow out if Trump decides to get in, biding their time for 2028. But others wonder if 2024 might be their time, “While Trump is currently a favorite to win the 2024 nomination if he chooses to compete, other Republicans are looking to steer the party in a Trump-centric direction but without the polarizing leader at its helm.”

Besides Pence, Pompeo, and Haley, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is on everyone’s shortlist for a presidential candidate in 2024. DeSantis has been a wildly successful governor and, next to Trump, very popular with the conservative base.
