Liberal Lunatic Blames "Homophobia" For Box Office Bust

The producer of a new gay rom-com movie called “Bros,” Billy Eichner, is disappointed that people are not showing up to see his film.

In fact, instead of taking responsibility for the film’s performance, Eichner has been all too happy to blame the public for not coming to see what he has created. He has blamed homophobia for the lackluster performance of the movie.

Billy Eichner is best known for starring in a show called “Billy on the Street,” a comedy show aired on truTV and other networks. However, his latest movie here has not reached the audience size he had hoped it would.

A simple explanation of what the movie is about comes from Movieweb. It essentially describes a movie in which two men are having commitment problems but are maybe starting to fall in love anyway. It isn't easy to know because they both remain busy with their jobs and other commitments. However, this is not the kind of movie capable of attracting a large audience.

Actor Luke Macfarlane said he was comfortable performing some of the sexually-charged scenes in the movie, but he didn’t like that certain parts of the movie called for being spit on. That was something that he wasn’t comfortable doing.

Macfarlane told Variety that Eichner pitched the idea of being spit on. Billy asked the actor, “Should we spit on each other?” and Macfarlane said, “No.”

The film had a massive budget for marketing and getting the word out, but it wasn’t enough to make it a success. “Bros” flopped at the box office. It pulled in just $4.8 million despite being available in more than 3,350 theaters nationwide.

The Hollywood Reporter states that the movie was poorly received in middle America and the South.

This movie had a total budget of $22 million even though Eichner wrote and starred in it himself. It seems that Eichner took out his frustration on the country as a whole when he took to Twitter to say that despite their glowing reviews and great reception on movie rating websites such as Rotten Tomatoes, the movie was “not viewed by straight people, and that is a disappointment to us.”

In other words, it seems that Eichner is trying to pin the blame for his movie’s poor performance on the homophobia of the masses. However, it could be that his movie wasn’t as good as he thinks it was.
