The race between Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. John Fetterman, a Democrat, against celebrity Dr. Mehmet Oz, a Republican, for a United States Senate seat has started to enter the home stretch.

Concerns about Fetterman’s health, mental acuity, and even his capacity to speak coherently after a debilitating stroke have only grown. Indeed, Gateway Pundit opined, “Pennsylvania Democrat U.S. Senate candidate John Fetterman is totally shot after his massive stroke in May.”.

A case in point occurred when Fetterman recently sat down for an interview with MSNBC’s Chris Hayes. Fetterman’s response to a softball question has raised eyebrows and brought palms to faces.

Hayes asked, “I just wanted to check in and see how you’re doing.”

Fetterman responded, “It’s not about kicking balls in the authority or anything.”

Gateway Pundit suggests that Fetterman referred to a tweet he recently sent that stated, “D.C. could use a kick in the balls.” An image of a Fetterman kicking an unidentified stick figure in the crouch accompanied the tweet. Many have interpreted the other stick figure as being that of an unarmed black man. The image may glorify violence against African Americans.

The response and the tweet bring to mind a racially charged incident in which Fetterman chased down an unarmed black jogger and put the business end of a shotgun in his face. At the time, Fetterman claimed that he had done “the right thing” because he thought his prey was a felon.

Radio talk show host and Fox News contributor Clay Travis had none of it. Travis recently tweeted, “So John Fetterman held an unarmed black jogger at gunpoint because he believed the innocent jogger was a felon. This Democrat senate nominee is out here hunting black people.” It sounds pretty racist; where are you at, @KingJames?

The race for the Senate seat in Pennsylvania has become a statistical dead heat. Fetterman is scheduled to meet Dr. Oz in a debate on October 25, conveniently after early voting has already started.
