Judge James Ho of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit said he would no longer hire Yale School of Law clerks due to the school’s canceled culture.

The judge is a Trump appointee, and he says he is encouraging other judges around the country to stop hiring Yale clerks due to their intolerance of all viewpoints, according to The Post Millennial.

According to Reuters, the judge stated that Yale allows for canceling certain viewpoints and that the school actively encourages students to do this. He said this while speaking at a Federalist Society conference in Kentucky.

He feels that censorship occurs quite frequently at other law schools as well, but he says that it is particularly prominent at Yale, and that is why he thinks that he must stand up and do something about what he is seeing from the law clerks that are sent his way from the Ivy League school.

Per Reuters, Judge Ho says that he is not trying to cancel Yale, but he encouraged other judges who agree with his viewpoints about the school to consider not hiring clerks from the school as well until they can clean up their act.

He said that Yale is welcome to have a “closed and intolerant” community if they want to, but that he will not encourage that kind of environment to flourish by continuing to hire clerks who come from those types of bubbles.

He said that he wants Yale to stop trying to cancel people like him, which is why he is taking the actions he is now.

While making this argument, Judge Ho pointed out several incidents on the Yale campus in recent years. One such incident was when approximately 100 Yale students attempted to shut down a bipartisan conversation about civil liberties that was to take place on campus. The situation was so volatile that panelists who were slated to speak had to be escorted out by police instead.

There was another situation in which the administration pressured a student at Yale to apologize for an e-mail he sent out in which he referred to an apartment as a “trap house.” This was said to be triggering to many students because the student who sent the e-mail out was a member of a conservative organization on campus.

These incidents and more are what Judge Ho refers to when he speaks about the canceled culture that has engulfed Yale’s campus.
