The U.S. Embassy acknowledges that Russia is not required to recognize dual citizenship, and Americans are subject to being drafted into the war alongside Russians.
According to Fox News,”’ Russia may refuse to acknowledge dual nationals’ U.S. citizenship, deny their access to U.S. consular assistance, prevent their departure from Russia, and conscript dual nationals for military service,’ the Embassy warned Tuesday.”
The Embassy further warned that options to leave Russia are limited as men flee the country, resulting in overcrowded airports, checkpoints, and few airplane tickets available for purchase. Per Fox News,”’ Those residing or traveling in Russia should depart Russia immediately while limited commercial travel options remain,’ the statement released by the Embassy added.”

The Hill reports, “The U.S. Embassy said on Wednesday that flights are minimal and often unavailable on short notice, but that overland routes by car and bus are still open. The Embassy added that it is severely limited in its ability to help U.S. citizens and people should make independent arrangements as soon as possible.”

The Embassy is also warning Americans against participating in things like protests. The Hill reports, “Officials also said U.S. citizens should remember that the right to assemble peacefully and freedom of expression is not guaranteed in Russia, and they should avoid all social or political protests and not take pictures of security at the protests. Russian authorities have arrested Americans who have participated in the protests.”

After Putin ordered the mobilization of 300,000 men to fight in Ukraine, those men began fleeing Russia. According to Fox News, “Russian men have reported flooded into Finland, Georgia, Kazakhstan, and Mongolia as other European nations have blocked their borders to Russian citizens.”
Interestingly, the United States has welcomed Russians fleeing from Putin. Fox News states, “The White House said Tuesday it will accept Russian refugees attempting to forgo joining the war in Ukraine.”
It’s time to get out of Russia for Americans. However, one can’t help but wonder how many Russian refugees will make their way to America and if this will be a tactic to form a Trojan Horse.
