The crime wave in Chicago is forcing many people to rethink the place they want to call home.

Ken Griffin is the CEO of Citadel, and he has already moved to Florida because a colleague of his was mugged by a man with a gun in broad daylight. And a second person on his team was attacked by a crazy man without any reason.

Griffin has $30 billion to boast about. He is a successful businessman that invests in real estate. But his concern stretched beyond money. The City of Chicago has become a place that is hostile towards businesses and law-abiding people. And he is not willing to risk the future of Citadel.

He is moving the company to Miami, Florida, where it can continue to grow, and he does not have to worry about his employees being robbed or murdered.

According to the Daily Wire, “Griffin said he finally decided to leave Chicago after two of his colleagues were assaulted in the Windy City. The former was robbed after a person put ‘a gun to his head’ during a coffee run, and another was confronted by ‘some random lunatic just trying to punch him in the head’ while waiting for a car.”

Criminals in Chicago have become bold in their approach to crime ever since Mayor Lori Lightfoot promoted defunding the police. Her decision to limit what the police can do has led to a jump in the crime rate. And now it will cost her a lot more as one company after another leaves the states.

Griffin revealed that "I’m going to work to create a building that’s iconic in Miami. If it takes longer to fill the building, so be it. It’s more important to me to create the right environment to draw human capital that drives Citadel.”

The company has already purchased the land it wants to build in Miami. And now, they plan on moving forward with the main structure. The Sunshine State will benefit from the added revenue each year as the company pays its taxes. And Lightfoot will begin to realize her mistake as her city suffers a loss in revenue as one company after another moves away.
