Stacey Abrams, a politician who claimed that she was robbed of the governorship of Georgia when she last ran for office in 2018, is running again against the man who beat her, Brian Kemp, a Republican.

According to Post Millennial, a video has recently surfaced that shows Abrams supporting another bizarre conspiracy,.

The video shows the gubernatorial candidate on a stage with several other speakers. It shows her claiming that ultrasound machines, often used to show the development of human fetuses, are designed to fake heartbeats at six weeks to convince women to keep their babies and not have an abortion.

She said, “There is no such thing as a heartbeat at six weeks. It is a manufactured sound designed to convince people that men have the right to take control of a woman’s body.”

Abrams opposes the heartbeat law in Georgia that prohibits most abortions after six weeks when heartbeats are detectable in human fetuses. She has promised that should she become governor of Georgia, and she would push for repealing the six-week law and classify abortion as “medical care,” indistinguishable from any other procedure. Indeed, she once opined on The View that she supports abortion up to the moment of birth.

Abrams pushed home the reasons for her views on abortion on Twitter. “When a woman is forced to carry an unwanted pregnancy to term, they’re 4x more likely to end up in poverty and 60% less likely to stay employed full-time. Outlawing abortion perpetuates the cycle of poverty that disproportionately affects Black + Brown women & harms our economy.”

According to NBC News, Abrams claims that abortion, gun violence, and the economy are the main issues for the 2022 election. She is counting on abortion, which has become a burning issue after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, leaving the matter of legality to the states.

Polling suggests that Kemp is in the lead, but the margins are tight.

“A recent Quinnipiac poll showed 50 likely voters supporting Georgia Republican Governor Brian Kemp and 48 percent supporting Abrams.

“According to Quinnipiac, 57 percent of likely voters in Georgia said it’s very important a candidate shares their views on abortion and in that group, 63 percent back Abrams and 36 percent support Kemp.”

However, another poll suggests that abortion is far behind inflation as an issue of importance to voters.

“A new Marist poll revealed that 40 percent of registered voters in the state ranked ‘inflation’ as the most important issue this election. Only 16 percent said the same about abortion.”
