In the past few months, more than one GOP governor has sent illegal immigrants to “sanctuary” locations in response to the Biden administration’s failure to address the crisis at the US southern border.
In his letter to the DOJ, Newsom wrote, “Several of the individuals who were transported to Martha’s Vineyard have alleged that a recruiter induced them to accept the offer of travel based on false representations that they would be transported to Boson and would receive expedited access to work authorization.”

Nikki Fried, the Democratic gubernatorial candidate who campaigned against DeSantis, wrote to Attorney General Merrick Garland pushing for an investigation into “trafficking” migrants.
Politico reported US attorney for Massachusetts Rachael Rollins said, “We are looking into that case, and we’ll be speaking with members of the Department of Justice. Massachusetts isn’t the only place where this has happened. We have several other sister communities - whether it’s DC, New York, or California - where we’ve seen things like this, and we’re hoping to get some input from the Department of Justice” about our next steps, if any, at all.”

Interestingly, under the Biden administration, migrants have been transported across the US to various cities as an overwhelming number of migrants continue to cross the border. Politifact reported, “The federal government flies adult detainees in its custody from one facility to another, or from one US city to another during deportation proceedings.”

This type of transportation also occurred under the Trump administration, although the numbers were much lower.
The Blaze made an interesting observation: “One thus wonders what the difference is between the federal government transporting migrants via bus or airplane and Republican governors doing it.”
