The Secret Service detail protecting Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff has been blocking access to handicap-designated parking outside Whole Foods in Los Angeles.

Emhoff was running errands on Wednesday in the Westside neighborhood of Brentwood when his two-vehicle motorcade barred the accessible parking for roughly 20 minutes, a witness explained.

As Emhoff did some shopping at Whole Foods, photos of the incident show the two black Chevrolet Suburbans bearing Department of Homeland Security plates parked diagonally across a parking space designated for people with disabilities.

Emhoff, who shares a house with Vice President Kamala Harris in Brentwood, was escorted by two agents as he left Whole Foods with his groceries.

Harris has been outspoken in her advocacy for people with disabilities, a view contrasting with the scene that unfolded on Wednesday. A Secret Service spokesman refused to comment on the matter.

Outside the Whole Foods, the second gentleman explained to an onlooker that he was "doing good" as he walked to the waiting motorcade and hopped in the back of one of the waiting SUVs.

One of the Secret Service vehicles briefly activated its lights and sirens as the SUVs zipped away from the Whole Foods parking lot.

On his errands trip on Wednesday, Emhoff was further seen picking up dry-cleaning from a shop not far from Whole Foods.

Emhoff was casually dressed in a navy polo shirt, grey shorts, and white sneakers as he completed his errands.

It's unclear whether Emhoff's protective detail decided to block the accessible parking space at Whole Foods for security reasons.

A Secret Service spokesman told DailyMail.com in an announcement: "Due to the need to maintain operational security, the U.S. Secret Service does not comment on the means or methods used to conduct our protective operations."

Emhoff's spouse Harris has been a vocal advocate for people with disabilities and recently met with disability advocates at a round-table to discuss the potential impact of the Supreme Court's ruling rolling back guarantees on abortion access.

At the event, Harris even took care to use inclusive language meant to help people with visual impairment, stating in her introduction: "I am Kamala Harris. My pronouns are 'she' and 'her.' I am a woman sitting at the table wearing a blue suit."

Emhoff, who is the first second gentleman in US history, has been married to Harris since 2014, and has two children from his first marriage.

While the vice president and her husband officially reside in the Naval Observatory in Washington DC, they further maintain homes in San Francisco and LA's upscale Brentwood neighborhood.
