Texas struck first, sending buses of migrants to New York City. Now, Mayor Eric Adams is ready to strike back, musing around sending a busload of New Yorkers to campaign against Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.

"I already called my friends in Texas and told them how to cast their vote, and I am deeply contemplating taking a busload of New Yorkers to go to Texas and do some good old-fashioned door-knocking because we have to for the good of America. We have to get them out of office," Adams announced throughout a press conference Tuesday.

Since mid-April, Texas has sent upward of 4,800 migrants though more than 100 buses from its communities near the border like the Rio Grande Valley, Del Rio, Uvalde, and Eagle Pass to blue-state cities like Washington, D.C., and New York City in the Empire State.

Abbott lately confirmed New York City would be targeted for the busing initiative to highlight the influx of migrants at the southern border. He described the city as a "sanctuary city," which limits cooperation with the federal government to enforce federal immigration laws.

“In addition to Washington, D.C., New York City is the ideal destination for these migrants, who can receive the abundance of city services and housing that Mayor Eric Adams has boasted about within the sanctuary city,” Abbott announced in a news release, according to the Texas Tribune. “I hope he follows through on his promise of welcoming all migrants with open arms so our overrun and overwhelmed border towns can find relief.”

Texas has been joined by Arizona, sending its busloads of illegal immigrants to blue cities. Both Adams and Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser have pleaded with the Biden administration for federal assistance with the influx of migrants at their doorsteps, yet the White House has been noncommittal thus far.

Adams further protected the Big Apple's welcoming of asylum-seekers and decried Abbott's move as "un-American."

"We should not be blaming people who are seeking to leave a place that is harmful to them. That's why I was at Port Authority greeting the bus," he continued.

Under Adams's predecessor, Mayor Bill de Blasio, New York City was caught shipping a trove of homeless people to different states such as Utah though the "Special One-Time Assistance Program," the New York Post reported. The program offered homeless families transportation and a year's worth of rent at a location outside the city.
