Another senior official working for Vice President Kamala Harris is reportedly quitting his role next month, weeks after two other Harris officials resigned.

Michael Collins, Harris's director of public engagement and intergovernmental affairs, announced his leaving in a letter Friday, stating he would leave his post in August after serving in the role for 16 months, according to CNN.

"It has been a difficult decision, but I've decided to leave this amazing experience in the middle of August and transition to the next stage of my life," Collins said in the letter. "I'm so grateful to the Vice President for trusting me with this privilege and was honored to support the President's and Vice President's tireless, committed and historic work."

Collins previously worked as the chief of staff to former Georgia Democratic Rep. John Lewis before the congressman's death in 2020. The duo had worked together for 21 years. Collins said his work with Harris was an extension of his work with Lewis in an interview with ABC News last year.

"I'm trying to live out his legacy. It's been a journey — it's been a journey," Collins said. "I'm fortunate enough to now be working for the vice president of the United States. Her leadership is something that I'm looking forward to just embarking on in the world. And this is an extension of the work that I did with him, and I look forward to that tremendously."

Collins's exit would follow that of other aides to Harris. Rohini Kosoglu, the Vice President's domestic policy adviser, recently announced her plans to leave, citing spending time with her family as the reason for her resignation. This month, it was reported that Harris's director of speechwriting, Meghan Groob, was also leaving. Others heading for the exit since last fall were Harris's chief of staff, deputy press secretary, and communications director.

Kosoglu, was one of Harris' longest-serving aides and worked as Harris' domestic policy adviser after serving as her senior adviser during the transition and serving as chief of staff in both her Senate office and past presidential campaign.

Groob, who was director of speechwriting, announced her departure after working in her position less than four months. She took over the speechwriting job for Kate Childs Graham who announced her departure in February.

The West Wing has also had a flurry of staff changes as Democrats head into campaign season for the midterms.

Multiple sources told CNN on Friday that White House communications director Kate Bedingfield will be keeping her role, a shocking reversal decision that came after the White House previously announced she would be leaving.
