The new Granite State Poll, led by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center, found that only 31% of Democrats want Biden to run again, down from 54% in June and 74% in July 2021.
“President Biden is increasingly seen as an electoral liability for Democrats, both in the 2022 midterms and 2024 presidential election,” UNH Survey Center Director Andrew Smith said in a statement.
The poll revealed Biden’s net favorability is at an all-time low and that voters seem increasingly worried about his age. Seventy-eight percent of respondents said they are very or fairly distressed about Biden's age, including 88% of Republicans, 75% of Democrats, and 65% of independents.

Biden, 79, holds the record for the country's oldest chief executive, a record previously set by his predecessor, former President Donald Trump, now 76.
In a hypothetical 2024 Democratic primary field, the poll found Biden statistically tied with Buttigieg among New Hampshire Democrats at 16% and 17%, respectively. Vice President Kamala Harris was the first choice of just 6% of respondents, trailing both Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Elizabeth Warren (D-MA).

Although it is nearly two years away, New Hampshire’s first-in-the-nation presidential primary is important because an early victory in the Granite State can give campaigns momentum for further presidential primary contests.

Biden has indicated he intends to run for reelection for a second term.
Earlier this month, FiveThirtyEight editor-in-chief Nate Silver cited an interesting disconnect between two pieces of information most commonly used to project the upcoming midterms: the president’s approval rating and polls of the generic congressional ballot (which ask Americans whether they wish to vote for the Republican or the Democratic candidate this fall).

On the one hand, President Biden is historically disfavored: As of July 25 at 5 p.m. Eastern, he had an average approval rating of 38 percent and an average disapproval rating of 57 percent — a net approval rating of -19 percentage points. You have to go back to Harry Truman to find a President with a net approval rating that bad at this point in his term.
On the other, generic-congressional-ballot polls are pretty close. As of the same date and time, Republicans had an average lead of 1 point.
