The move comes after Netflix lost 200,000 subscribers in the first quarter of 2022, the first time the company has lost more subscribers than it has obtained in a decade. The platform also dismissed 150 employees, including those in the animation division. However, according to the service, the firings were a creative judgment and not financially motivated.
"These changes are primarily driven by business needs rather than individual performance, making them especially tough as none of us want to say goodbye to such great colleagues," Netflix told Fox News. "We're working hard to support them through this very difficult transition."

Aside from Antiracist Baby, Netflix also canceled Executive Producer Ava DuVernay's animated project Wings of Fire, and Kendi's documentary Stamped: Racism, Antiracism and You.
