CNN parent company Warner Bros. Discovery intends to declare Wallace’s Sunday night program in a presentation to advertisers Wednesday, according to the report.
Wallace had an interview-based streaming program four days a week during his brief time on the failed CNN+. The streaming service shut down after the Warner Bros. Discovery takeover of CNN due to few subscribers and years of expected losses to the high costs of operation.
The new parent company has talked about making CNN less opinion-based and returning more to its fact-based reporting that brought the cable channel to prominence decades ago. CNN ratings have reportedly struggled.

“At a time where most news networks are advocacy networks, we at CNN intend to advocate for journalism first,” Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav explained at an event recently, according to Axios.
Wallace left Fox News late last year for the CNN+ project, though former President Donald Trump had long predicted Wallace’s ouster at Fox News because of his Liberal perspective on the historically Conservative network. Wallace once called White House press secretary Jen Psaki “one of the best press secretaries ever,” a position few Conservative media pundits would agree with.

Warner Bros. Discovery executives haven’t been shy regarding their plans for CNN, repeatedly stating that they want to focus the network’s future on nonpartisan reporting rather than personality programming in primetime.

The show is meant to serve as part of a new “CNN Sunday” premium block that will further include a new program devoted to longer-form enterprise journalism from CNN correspondents that sounds similar to the concept of CBS News’ “60 Minutes.” Executives see that show as containing a collection of stories from CNN correspondents worldwide, announced Chris Licht, recently named chairman and CEO of the news company. Segments could focus on “ investigations or far-flung human dramas,” he stated.
The two programs represent some of CNN’s first initiatives under Licht, who announced Wednesday that he sees an opportunity for CNN to thrive by moving away from the partisan leanings of its main competitors, Fox News Channel and MSNBC. ”The next chapter in CNN is one where we aspire to be a beacon for the kind of journalism essential to a functioning democracy,” announced Licht. “At a time where extremes are dominating cable news, we will seek to go a different way reflecting the real lives of our viewers and elevating the way America and the world views this medium.”
