Vice President Kamala Harris told Democrats their job is to tell Americans they "got what they ordered" when they elected herself and President Joe Biden in November 2020 ahead of a potentially dangerous midterm election.

Harris, 57, spoke at the Democratic National Committee coming back from a trip to Europe to address world leaders about Russia's invasion of Ukraine and showed a hopeful message to fellow Democrats.

"Our task is to show people that, in many ways, they got what they ordered," the vice president said Saturday.

While much of Biden’s prepared agenda has failed at the steps of Congress - notably the Build Back Better social spending program - the party is praising the American Rescue Plan and the bipartisan infrastructure bill that did get signed into law.

"A lot of what they demanded they got and so let's get out there as we do and remind them…because we know that they will show up again," Harris said.

The VP repeated what her boss told the DNC on Thursday, calling Democrats to stand on their records ahead of the midterms.

"We have a record - a record to be proud of; an agenda that addresses the biggest concerns here in America, in people's lives; the message that resonates," Biden said to the 415 members of the DNC at the Washington Hilton Hotel Thursday. "Now what we have to do is we have to sell it with confidence, clarity, conviction, and repetition."

Harris did suggest that Americans would likely face difficulties due to the Russian invasion.

"The ocean that separates us will not leave us untouched by this aggression," she said.

But she reaffirmed the nation’s commitment to standing with the Ukrainians as the warheads into its third week.

"The United States stands firmly with the Ukrainian people in defense of the NATO alliance," Harris said.

Republican National Committee spokesperson Emma Vaughn disagreed with Harris' view of the country.

"Kamala Harris is returning to record gas prices, historic inflation, runaway crime, an open border, and a country moving in the wrong direction," Vaughn said in a statement. "Biden and Harris have lost the trust of the American people - their agenda is destroying wallets, pitting Americans against each other, and weakening our standing on the world stage."

Harris is the first-ever woman and person of color to serve as a U.S. vice president – before being selected as President Joe Biden's No. 2, she was running for his spot in the Democratic primary.

The Vice President held a joint press conference alongside Polish President Andrzej Duda regarding the Russian invasion of Ukraine during her three-day trip through Eastern Europe.
