U.S. Sen. Rand Paul hit back at YouTube censorship on Saturday after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recognized that cloth masks do not work as well against the coronavirus as N95 makes.

The Kentucky Republican wondered if YouTube would apologize for suspending him earlier this year for stating the same thing.

"Does this mean snot-nosed censors at YouTube will come to my office and kiss my … and admit I was right?" Paul announced.

Well, the senator simply said he will stop posting videos on YouTube because of actions the platform has taken over the content it said violated its policies.

The senator's announcement comes amid more widespread Republican accusations that technology giants are censoring their content. However, no evidence was published suggesting systemic anti-conservative bias among major tech companies.

"About half of the public leans right. If we all took our messaging to outlets of free exchange, we could cripple Big Tech in a heartbeat. So, today I take my first step toward denying my content to Big Tech. Hopefully, other liberty lovers will follow," he announced.

Paul said he will only be posting on YouTube to criticize the platform, and will instead largely post content on the video sharing site Rumble, which has become popular among Republicans who have fled mainstream social platforms.

Paul said his decision to stop posting on YouTube is part of his "exodus from Big Tech," and accused the platform of censoring his content.

In a New York Times article cited by Paul, who is a certified physician, the CDC revised its previous belief about masks, stating that "loosely woven cloth products provide the least protection" and rather advised surgical masks.

In August, YouTube suspended Paul over a three-minute video questioning the effectiveness of cloth masks, which many studies have shown are not effective in preventing the spread of viruses like the coronavirus.

The CDC has been criticized for misleading guidance in recent weeks, notably its confusing update on the amount of time those infected with the coronavirus or one of its variants should quarantine and the efficacy of rapid testing. The agency was formerly hit for changing guidance on masking. This week, it continued to add to the confusion after the agency recommended that people opt for N95 or KN95 masks to protect against the highly contagious omicron variant.

CDC Director Rochelle Walensky has chalked up the CDC's fluctuating health guidance to simply following the science. Though her explanation hasn't stopped even mainstream media from questioning her why Americans should "trust" the agency.
