An LGBTQ online newspaper faces backlash on social media about a report issued on Sen. Ted Cruz's teenage daughter.

Social media users piled on denouncement after LGBTQ Nation reported Monday on the sexuality of Cruz's daughter, which she announced on TikTok. Approximately 21 hours after sharing the story on Twitter, the tweet had garnered thousands of quote tweets and remarks, some of which were packed with profane denunciation.

One of the high-profile people who trashed the news site was Conservative commentator Meghan McCain.

"Ted Cruz's daughter is 13-years-old," McCain announced on Twitter. "This is exploitation of a minor and disgusting ethical malpractice on the part of the media."

Cruz's daughter started using her TikTok account to respond to questions users might have regarding being the child of a U.S. senator. According to the Dallas Morning News, as of December 30, her account was made private.

Politicians raising Generation Z children have to contend with ready access to social media that prior generations never did. The daughter of Kellyanne Conway, one of Donald Trump's main advisers as President, caused problems for her parents last year after she posted videos claiming abuse at home and professing her dislike for Trump on TikTok.

Answering questions from followers on the social media application regarding the pros and cons of being related to a U.S. senator, Cruz's 13-year-old daughter announced she liked traveling and getting candy and gifts in the mail. Though she expressed dislike for her security detail, she said she follows her around her neighborhood and her friends' homes.

The story by LGBTQ Nation alleged Cruz's daughter had pronouns and the word "bi" in her account's bio. A screenshot of a remark thread showed that she had not told her father about her sexuality yet.

"'She's 13' is trending cuz Ted Cruz's daughter came out on TikTok as bisexual. Question is... does Cancun Ted choose the path of a liberal and love/accept his daughter for who she is or does he go the conservative route by declaring she's a sinner and disowning her?," wrote actor/writer Angela Belcamino (@AngelaBelcamino).
