Biden addressed the press regarding the Administration's intention to confront the Omicron variant of the coronavirus, ultimately changing the topic to Sen. Joe Manchin's opposition to his $2 trillion Build Back Better Act.
Biden described how his plan would lower costs "across the board" before trailing off and stating to reporters, "I'm not supposed to be having this press conference right now." The press-filled room instantly erupted with more questions.
Biden has made comparable statements previously, uttering throughout a press conference in June that he would "be in trouble" if he took further questions from reporters.
"I'm sorry, I'm going to get in trouble with staff if I don't do this the right way," Biden announced before calling on more reporters for questions.

He indicated he would be in "trouble" for taking questions throughout a meeting in November after the passage of the $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill.
"I can take … I'm going to get in real trouble. … This is the last question I'm taking," Biden stated. "You can decide who I'm pointing to," he continued before closing his eyes and pointing indiscriminately into the crowd of reporters.

That question was about Biden maintaining Trump Administration steel and aluminum sanctions and how he justifies them to concerned European allies. Biden answered bluntly. "120 days, give me a break," he said. "Need time."

"I'd be happy to take questions if that's what I'm supposed to do, Nance," Biden told House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. "Whatever you want me to do."
The feed ended seconds later, after a brief pause from the President. Meanwhile, President Biden's job approval rating keeps dropping as inflation keeps growing.
A new PBS NewsHour/NPR/Marist poll published Monday revealed Biden's approval rating at 41 percent, a new low for the survey.
By contrast, 55 percent of Americans disapprove of Biden's job performance, including 44 percent who state they "strongly disapprove" of the 46th President.

The number of respondents who announced they "strongly disapproved" of the President was up six percentage points from the most recent Marist poll, issued Dec. 9.
Monday's poll presents almost a mirror image of Marist's results from mid-May when 53 percent approved of Biden's work while 41 percent disapproved.

Since then, the White House has been buffeted by the highest inflation rate in almost 40 years, a resurgence of coronavirus cases because of the Omicron variant, a delayed legislative agenda in Congress, and the aftermath of the botched U.S. military departure from Afghanistan.
