Biden celebrated 'Friendsgiving' under a Thanksgiving banner as the mainstream media are telling people not to buy Christmas gifts, now another outlet comes forward with what can only be seen as a way to cancel Thanksgiving. NBC News is the latest corporate media outlet to address the American consumers about the increasing inflation, advising families to "forgo the turkey" at their Thanksgiving celebrations this week.

The reason for dropping such a staple dish at the holiday dinner table, NBC News seemed to suggest, comes from the soaring prices of ingredients and food items in the U.S. due to inflation. This is established by a recent Farm Bureau survey that found that Thanksgiving dinner's price is up 14 percent from last year. What is ironic is the White House was pushing Turkey purchases arguing the cost has only risen $1 for a 20-pound bird from last year.

"With inflation on the rise, prices are going up on everything from your Thanksgiving meal to your gifts for the holidays," anchor Kristen Welker said to introduce the segment.

Instead of checking why the cost of a Thanksgiving meal is so much higher under the Biden Administration compared to prior years, NBC News's Vicky Nguyen urged consumers to sacrifice a key edible element of the memorable holiday to make ends meet.

"Perhaps forgo the turkey…I know that is the staple of the Thanksgiving meal, however, some people think turkey is overrated and so it tends to be the most expensive thing on the table. Maybe you do an Italian feast instead," Nguyen suggested on air just a few days before the holiday.

"If you tell everyone you're having a Thanksgiving without turkey, some guests may drop off the list and that's a way to cut costs too," she added.

"I'm not recommending it, I'm just offering it," she said, as Welker jokes, "keep the pie."

One day before Nguyen's tone-deaf pleadings, a CBS News poll found that 67 percent of Americans oppose President Joe Biden's handling of inflation.

Meanwhile, Biden and the White House continue to downplay their role in the inflation.

"America is the only major economy — the only one in the world — where the economy is bigger today, and families have more money in their pockets today, than before the pandemic hit. That's even after accounting for inflation," Biden said on Monday.

This narrative has been practiced by other outlets in the corporate media such as Vox and The Atlantic, which published articles last month asking that Americans stop shopping to clear Biden and his Administration of blame for the supply chain distress that has been disturbing the country.

While the segment was light-hearted, the costs on American families aren't a happy subject. Last month, a Fox News poll revealed a strong majority of Americans expressing concern over inflation and a growing share falling behind on finances.

On a similar note, NBC previously published a piece titled, "Turkey Social Media photos promote harmful obsession with meat" in 2019, prompting Americans not to publish pictures of their turkey dinners because of how it would "promote violence unnecessarily - including the violent origins of our food."
