The latest data made public by Johns Hopkins University shows that the number of 2021 coronavirus deaths in the United States exceeded last year's total.

According to the data, the United States has reached no less than 770,691 COVID-19 deaths over the entire course of the coronavirus pandemic.

Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) indicate that the whole number of deaths involving COVID-19 in 2020 was 385,343, which means that no less than 385,348 COVID-19 deaths—15 more than the 2020 total—have been recorded in 2021.

That number is assumed to increase in the weeks to come.

Back in 2020, former President Donald Trump was criticized by many top Democrats for the COVID-19 deaths that took place under the previous Administration. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) dubbed COVID-19 the "Trump virus" over the former President's handling of the pandemic.

Roughly 69 percent of the U.S. population are at least partially immunized, while 59 percent are fully immunized, according to CDC data.

Among that group, Americans aged 65 years and older boast impressively high vaccination rates. Almost 100 percent of people in that age range are at least partially vaccinated, while 86 percent are completely vaccinated, per CDC data.

While the U.S. began to celebrate a drop of COVID-19 cases in September, those numbers have steadily started trending upward again. Last week, 29 states saw higher COVID-19 counts than the week prior.

Meanwhile, the New York Assembly's probe into former Gov. Andrew Cuomo's conduct in office decided the Democrat's administration misrepresented how many nursing home residents died of COVID-19, according to a lawmaker who studied the committee's still-classified report.

The report, compiled by the New York City law firm Davis Polk & Wardwell, covers a wide array of allegations of misconduct by Cuomo, including sexual harassment allegations and his staff's participation in writing his book on the coronavirus pandemic.

Other matters include the Cuomo Administration's manipulation of data on COVID-19 deaths as shown to the public.
