At a Terry McAuliffe campaign event in Virginia on Friday, musician Pharrell Williams did not urge residents to vote for the Democratic Gubernatorial candidate in the Nov. 2 election; instead, calling on Virginians to vote broadly.

"I'm not here to tell you to vote for a person or vote for a party," Williams declared. "I'm asking you to vote and be a part of the process of being a Virginian."

"So again, when you go home, if you haven't voted already, speak to your neighbor no matter what color they are, no matter what color they're wearing. Speak to your fellow Virginian. That's how we show love to one another," he added later in his speech.

Following Williams' supposed endorsement or lack thereof, the music mogul introduced the campaign's main speaker.

"And last but not least, I'm going to bring up the former governor and maybe the governor to be again, Terry McAuliffe," said the musician. Despite the unenthusiastic introduction, McAuliffe has claimed that he has Williams' full support and complete endorsement of his candidacy, stating: "I mean, we gotta ... every community needs to be open and welcoming to everybody. And if people feel there are tensions within one's community, then they're not going to grow, they're not going to be successful," according to WTKR 3.

"So, if all of these people are feeling there's toxicity out there, as governor, as I did before, I'm going to break down walls. I'm going to make sure we're open, inclusive. Every community here in the Commonwealth of Virginia. But I've spoken to Pharrell many times on this topic. He's very upset. That's one of the reasons why he's supporting me for governor," McAuliffe went on to state.

Following Williams' appearance, Glenn Youngkin's campaign insisted the singer's lackluster "endorsement" was a seal of approval for Virginians to vote for the Republican contender. "At Terry McAuliffe's event, Pharrell Williams told the crowd it's OK if they vote for Glenn Youngkin," Team Youngkin wrote on Twitter.

Vice President Kamala Harris also appeared in Hampton Roads Friday evening for the campaign event. The event at Norfolk’s Half Moon cruise center near Waterside was scheduled for 3-7 p.m. Harris started speaking around 6:20 p.m.

Election Day is next Tuesday, Nov. 2, and McAuliffe and Republican challenger Glenn Youngkin are neck-and-neck.

The campaign event organizers expected about 700 people in attendance by the time Harris spoke.

During her speech, Harris said without Virginia voters in 2020, she would not be standing at the podium as Vice President.

She emphasized how important Governors are when facing issues such as women’s reproductive rights, supporting the military and veterans, climate change and more.

Harris stressed the importance of getting out to vote this year, saying Virginia’s election will have national implications.
