As the United States has seen record numbers of migrants passing through the border under the Biden administration, some migrants say they “didn’t even want to try” entering the US while former President Donald Trump was in office, mentioning his stringent immigration methods.

Several migrants who illegally passed into Yuma, Ariz., talked this week with Daily Caller field reporter Jorge Ventura, who asked them if they’ve found it easier to cross now that President Biden is in office.

“First of all, he does not separate families,” one Colombian migrant said, according to a translation. “Second, one can wait less, when before it was six months. Now it goes by faster to wait under asylum.”

A second Colombian migrant told Ventura that he is “obviously happy” Biden tempered some of Trump’s immigration policies because it “gives the chance for new people to grow, study, be something, be somebody in life because that’s what we’re looking for.”

Ventura pressed the migrants further, asking why they didn’t want to cross into the US during the last administration.

“No, I didn’t even want to try it,” one of the migrants said, citing strict immigration policies and police. “Not even think about it.”

The Daily Caller reporter later spoke with several Nicaraguan migrants who also reportedly spanned illegally into Yuma who shared similar thoughts, saying it is easier to come to the US under Biden than Trump.

“Because he’s giving us immigration opportunities,” one migrant said. “He’s not selfish like President Trump because that man … he’s too bad and very racist, and we need a society that supports each other and not one that criticizes us because we are all the same.”

The migrant soon praised Biden for “supporting” them.

“We thank him very much because he’s supporting us. God bless him,” she said through a translator.

The Biden administration has met bipartisan criticism over the massive amounts of aliens illegally crossing into the US at the southern border.

Just last month, some approximations say Del Rio, Texas, saw nearly 15,000 migrants camped under the Del Rio International Bridge at one time, after thousands, many of whom were Haitian, crossed the Rio Grande.

Local and state officials pressed the administration for help, indicating a lack of human resources among Border Patrol officials and security concerns.

On Monday, reports appeared that the border lives “open,” despite administration officials publicly stating the opposite.

The Washington Examiner reported that 11 National Guard soldiers make up the only law enforcement occupation from outside Texas in the Rio Grande Valley — down from nearly 200 military and police mere months ago.

“We used to have a National Guard [soldier] posted there,” Border Patrol agent Chris Cabrera told the outlet while driving along the border near Hidalgo, Texas. “There was another one right over here. But they took that guy, too.”
