Former President Donald Trump slammed President Joe Biden for what he calls, the "spiraling tsunami" at the southern border.

His comments came in a statement released on Friday afternoon. Federalist Senior Editor Mollie Hemingway posted a copy of the statement on her Twitter account.

"The spiraling tsunami at the border is overwhelming local communities, depleting budgets, crowding hospitals, and taking jobs from legal American workers," he stated. "When I left office, we had achieved the most secure border in our country’s history. Under Biden, it will soon be worse, more dangerous, and more out of control than ever before. He has violated his oath of office to uphold our Constitution and enforce our laws.

"Our border is now totally out of control thanks to the disastrous leadership of Joe Biden. Our great Border Patrol and ICE agents have been disrespected, demeaned, and mocked by the Biden administration. A mass incursion into the country by people who should not be here is happening on an hourly basis, getting worse by the minute.

''There has never been a time on our southern border like what is happening now. You can never have a secure border unless people who cross illegally are promptly removed.''

Trump’s remarks came as President Biden stared down a spike in migrant families and unaccompanied children at the border, Fox News reported.

According to Fox News, White House press secretary Jen Psaki responded to Trump's statements on Friday by saying: "We don't take our advice or counsel from former President Trump on immigration policy, which was not only inhumane but ineffective over the last four years. We're going to tread our own path forward and that includes treating children with humanity and respect and ensuring they're safe when they cross our borders."

Psaki referred to the Trump administration’s policy as ''ineffective'' and ''immoral.''

''Obviously we’re going to have more kids across the — in the country — since we have been letting unaccompanied minors stay,'' she stressed. ''And the last administration immorally kicked them out.''

However, critics have said the Biden administration’s policies have created a flood at the border, encouraging and inviting illegal border crossings.

Psaki’s statements come a day after she steadfastly refused to credit the Trump administration for expediting the development of a vaccine for the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19, instead suggesting that the death toll was the fault of the previous administration.

Nonetheless, Texas Democrat Rep. Henry Cuellar released a statement Thursday noting that approximately 10,000 illegal immigrants have been apprehended in the past week in the Del Rio border sector and that the country is ''weeks, maybe even days, away from a crisis.''
