Sanders labored as Trump's White House press secretary until June 2019. She entered the Fox News Channel as a paid, on-air contributor in September 2019. A Fox News Media spokesperson verified on Sunday that her contributor contract with the network has been terminated.
"Sarah is strong on Borders, tough on Crime, and fully supports the Second Amendment and our great law enforcement officers," Trump said in a statement.
"She loves our Military and Veterans -- and her home state of Arkansas," he maintained. "Sarah will be a GREAT Governor, and she has my Complete and Total Endorsement!"

The former president described her as a “warrior who will always fight for the people of Arkansas and do what is right, not what is politically correct.”
“With the radical left now in control of Washington, your governor is your last line of defense,” Sanders said in a nearly eight-minute video announcing her 2022 bid that prominently featured pictures of the president as well as some of his favorite targets.

Sanders declared on the video that she will maintain those in the state for their "right to be free of socialism and tyranny."
"With your support, I hope to be the first woman to lead our state as governor," she proceeded.

She was widely cheered to run by Trump since her White House departure in June 2019.
"She is a very special person with extraordinary talents, who has done an incredible job!" Trump announced as she was departing the White House. "I hope she decides to run for Governor of Arkansas - she would be fantastic."
Sanders, 38, was born on Aug. 13, 1982, in Hope, Ark., the same town where former President Bill Clinton was born in 1946.
The daughter of former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Sanders would build something of an Arkansas political dynasty if she wins.

She attempts to succeed current GOP Gov. Asa Hutchinson, who is barred by term limits from running for reelection next year.

Though, it seems like some don’t think Trump’s opinion just doesn’t matter, despite him being a former president.
“Trump is simply not a liability here,” said Janine Parry, a political scientist at the University of Arkansas. “At least, for the time being, we’re in a state where he remains an asset.”
That’s even as the Senate is preparing for an impeachment trial over the Jan. 6 insurrection by Trump followers that attempted halting the approval of President Joe Biden’s victory over Trump.
