The Business Of Black Lives Matter Is Quite Lucrative, At Least For Georgia Democrats

Black Lives Matter PAC is urging to raise $500,000 to help Democratic Senate nominees Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock in the closely followed Georgia elections that will resolve the control over the upper chamber of Congress come January.

Activists with the social justice movement are wishing to advance legislation in the first 100 days of the Biden administration that will, among different things, consist of the BREATHE Act, which suggests closing down and defunding multiple federal agencies and permanently closing jails and immigration detention centers, among other agenda matters.

Georgia's runoff elections will resolve the balance of powers in the Senate in the next Congress, a significant balance that could ultimately determine the future of the law. Republicans currently hold 50 seats versus Democrats' 48.

If both Democratic candidates predominate in Georgia, Vice President-elect Kamala Harris will be the tie-breaking vote in any Senate deadlock.

"We know how important this election is going to be in determining what decisions will be made in the Senate for the next few years -- decisions that will impact us directly, like access to quality and affordable health care, reforming the criminal justice system, all the way to major electoral reform like passing the BREATHE Act," the BLM PAC said in a letter to voters.

Georgia state law requires political candidates to score at least 50% of the vote to secure a win. Because neither Ossoff and Warnock nor Georgia Republican Sens. David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler got that point earlier this month, Georgia will have runoff elections on Jan. 5.

Next January's Georgia runoff elections aren't just about "controlling the Senate," but "controlling the legislative agenda for America," Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., told “Hannity” Wednesday.

"The two sides cannot be further apart," Scott told guest host Trey Gowdy. "One side wants a $4 trillion dollar tax increase, and the way you [Democrats] get that? Win two seats in Georgia."

Scott also said that if Democrats do secure control of the Senate, "the average person listening" would see "a 60% increase in your taxes [and] for single moms, a 70% increase in your taxes.

"It means the ability to add more justices to the Supreme Court," he added. "We've had nine justices for the last 150 years. They want to stack the courts so that they can continue to transform America into a socialist utopia. It just can't happen."

By contrast, Scott promised, "when we win those two seats, we will be funding the police, not what the Democrats want to do [which] is defunding the police.

“[These are] the most consequential two Senate seats in all of America and all time,” the senator concluded. “We save the nation and continue to move in the right direction by having those two seats won by two Republicans on January the 5th, and we'll spend a lot of time trying to make that happen."
