Rare Photos Of The World's Longest Reigning Monarch, Queen Elizabeth II

Her Majesty’s Driving Always Brought Attention

Queen Elizabeth II learned to drive as a mechanic and driver with the Women's Auxiliary Territorial Service during World War II. After her Coronation, she regularly rode in the back seat of one of her luxurious state vehicles or chose to ride in a horse and carriage, among other things. The Queen was photographed driving in May 2017 as she drove a custom Range Rover to the Royal Windsor Horse Show. She left her chauffeur behind after church services in Windsor Park just days earlier to drive her Jaguar home. In 1998, she took then-Crown Prince Abdullah for a drive around Balmoral in her Land Rover. Although it is not normally photographed, the Queen frequently drove around her Sandringham estate.
