Kamala Harris told migrants in Central America not to come, explaining they will be turned away. Forget that it was Harris and Biden who opened the door, eliminated Trump's brilliant 'Stay In Mexico' policy while asylum cases are heard, and basically told the world to come and America will welcome you. Forget that Harris made her primary campaign about Trump telling migrants to not come, billing it as a humanitarian issue. And forget that she has been in charge of the border for close to 80 days and has done diddly squat, even embarrassing herself on Monday saying that 'I have never been to Europe either' when pressed as to why she has not been to the border.
Even her compatriot and one time supporter, NY Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez described the Vice President's comments on immigration as "disappointing" on Monday, after Harris said during a press conference that migrants looking to pass the U.S. border should not come.
However, this is not the disturbing part. The Washington Post showed exactly what was. Compare the articles about telling migrants not to come, the one from Trump and the one from Kamala earlier this week. With Trump, it was 'Our Country is FULL!': Trump Declaration carries far-right echoes that go back to the Nazi era." And now the Harris one from this week, "Harris Warns Guatemalans they will be turned back if they come to U.S. border illegally."
The two vastly different tones is an clear example of how during the four years of Trump, outlets like the Washington Post peddled in misinformation and smears, in the name of news. The media cannot be trusted - we know this, which is why places like Daily Wire, Daily Caller, BlabberBuzz, Buzzfeed and Huffington Post are climbing in ratings. Liberals and conservatives are realizing they want transparency - and to know an outlet is not hiding their loyalties is better than thinking fairness and unbiased reporting exists.
At Blabberbuzz, we are building a conservative community - we do not hide that. The news is fair, but editorialized for the audience and community we are a part of. On the same note, Buzzfeed is notoriously liberal - and they do not deny it. The CNN's, MSNBC's, ABC's and even the Fox News' work so hard to try to keep their bias hidden, even though it is not.
When America was founded, the news was often aligned with a political party. Take Alexander Hamilton's New York Post which espoused Federalist ideas and told the news from the Federalist standpoint. From Whigs to Democrats, newspapers all over the country in the early days of America were politically aligned. Somewhere along the way the media took on this 'arbitrary' facade - and went with it.
Yes, outlets like the New York Times have swayed over the years, but they always were liberal. The Wall Street Journal was always slanted towards the conservative side of things - and yet few put this together. Instead thinking that the word of the Times, or Post or Globes of America are absolute truth. While the details might be truthful, the language and the inferences and the words they choose are designed to spin a narrative.
It is time to abandon these notions of fairness There is nothing wrong with supporting one ideal over another, but it is important to also read about the other side. Reliance on one outlet or one set of outlets that parrot each other is not doing justice to the truth - relying on different minded outlets is the only way to truly see the truth between the lines.
