Watch: Firebrand Lauren Boebert Calls Capitol 'Fort Pelosi' & Declares CPAC 'Trump's State Of Union'

Freshman firebrand Congresswoman Lauren Boebert brought delights at CPAC Saturday after saying she was no advocate of the continued security around Washington, D.C. — and “Fort Pelosi.”

“I wouldn’t be surprised if we start quartering soldiers in the committee hearing rooms,” Boebert said during a gun-rights committee at the annual GOP confab.

“There’s plenty in the parking garages at Fort Pelosi. Maybe we can start unreasonably seizing and searching members of Congress. Oh, wait, we’re already doing that in House chambers,” she added.

National Guard troops and roadblocks have been a mainstay in the Capitol since the fatal Jan. 6 breach. A growing number of lawmakers have started to question the optics of the sustained security measures.

Boebert, who has provoked anger among Democrats (and the Capitol Police) for her persistence in carrying a weapon, said she had since received a hidden carry permit in the Capitol.

The panel was hosted by NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch, who noted wryly that it was the first time she wasn’t the most controversial speaker on stage.

Just before Boebert, PACers heard from former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who was acquainted with his son Nick. The elder Pompeo — who is rumored to harbor presidential ambitions — mostly exploited his time to endorse President Trump and play in his career highlights.

“We were told you can’t move the United States embassy to Jerusalem. There will be war. Well we did and there was not a war,” he said to applause. “How many of you remember Qasem Soleimani. Allah rests his soul … In the end, he didn’t cause trouble for America or anyone else ever again.”

Pompeo repeatedly hesitated to revel in applause and seldom clap for himself. He also offered shots at Democrats and Joe Biden and took a covered jab at Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez over what he said was imminent spending cuts to national defense.

“They’re going to trade army green for AOC green,” he said.

Members of the Washington D.C. City Council called Wednesday for the removal of security fencing placed around the U.S. Capitol as a defensive measure in the wake of the Jan. 6 riot.

In a letter to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-NY, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., the councilmembers said a "hardened security perimeter," with fencing and razor wire, was the "wrong solution." The security fencing has created logistical problems within the city, impacted local legislative operations, and limited public access to the Capitol complex, they added.

"We offer our full support and partnership to both investigate the deficiencies that led to the failures on January 6 and implement any changes in command or planning needed to ensure those events will never be repeated," the councilmembers said in the letter obtained by Fox 5 DC. "But permanent fencing, blocked streets, or diminished public access is not the way to secure the Capitol."
