John Sullivan, founder of Utah based BLM extremist group Insurgence USA told Fox News on Thursday, "There’s this narrative going around right now that Antifa was the people there causing the riots, causing the tension, they were the only people breaking into the Capitol, and I wanted to be able to tell a part of history and show that that was anything but the case."
Insurgence USA calls itself "the revolution." Insurgence USA group’s website supported an event called "Kick These Fascists out of DC" on Wednesday to fight the pro-Trump rally near the National Mall.
Thursday night, a day after the riot at the Capitol, Sullivan was arrested by police on K and 14th in Washington, DC by the Hamilton hotel.
In August 2020 in Washington, DC, Sullivan pointed to the White House and said, "We ... about to burn this s--- down," he said. "We gotta ... rip Trump right out of that office right there," he continued, adding, "We ain't about ... waiting until the next election." He then led the crowd in a chorus of, "It's time for revolution."
Sullivan told Fox News he didn’t see other left-wing activists inside the building and he couldn’t know for sure. "As far as being able to understand who is in the crowd, based on being around protests a lot … I didn’t see any people who were originally at BLM protests," he said.
Sullivan told Fox News he constantly attends protests to videotape what’s going on, including a clash involving Proud Boys on Tuesday near D.C.’s Black Lives Matter Plaza.
"It’s just recording, solely, and not being active in it," he claimed, although he admitted going into the Capitol through a smashed window.
Sullivan tweeted several videos taken inside the Capitol on Wednesday.
One had an up-close view of the killing of Ashli Babbitt, an Air Force veteran who was shot by a law enforcement officer while trying to breach the Capitol. "I remember looking into her eyes and seeing the lifelessness and understanding that she was dead," he said.
"Protesters weren’t really, like, trying to burn anything down, they weren’t really trying to break anything, their main motive was to make it into the chambers," Sullivan told KUTV.
Sullivan, 25, has a history of violence and was caught & charged in July 2020, where drivers in Provo, Utah, were threatened and one was shot during a BLM/Antifa riot.
