One particular stat about the state has troubled Democrats all cycle: Hillary Clinton won it by less than she lost Arizona, the neighboring battleground. Guarding against any overconfidence, Joe Biden visited Nevada during his Western swing on Friday and he made another gaffe.
Yes, Biden had another gaffe filled day on Friday during his appearances to small groups of supporters in Nevada, this time he was speaking of his tax plan and economic plan for the US under his administration.
Biden was laughed at when he told supporters to sit down on the ground in their safety circle.
Then later during a speech to a few supporters in Las Vegas, Nevada Joe Biden called for $15 million minimum wage.
Then he corrected it to $15 thousand minimum wage.
Then he called for $15 minimum wage.
The guy is out of it.
The Biden tax plan would repeal the major tax reductions passed in 2017; it would increase the top individual federal income tax rate from 37% to the pre-Trump rate of 39.6% and the corporate rate from 21% to 28%. The tax benefit afforded itemized deductions would be capped at the 28% tax rate. Tax rates would be graduated so that taxpayers with incomes below $400,000 would not see rate increases.
His economic plans include raising the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour and expanding health insurance access, as well as investing billions of dollars in childcare, early childhood education and college tuition assistance.
“Joe understands that if you work 40 hours a week, you should not be living in poverty,” Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders said while stumping for Biden in Michigan Monday. “Joe also understands that it is absurd that women in America are earning 80 cents on the dollar compared to men.”
