Hydroxychloroquine is a legal drug that physicians can prescribe if and when the individual doctor believes it will help his or her patient. This is a medical decision, not a political or legal one. If the patient signs a waiver, showing he or she understands that the drug is experimental, and the physician believes the drug may, in fact, help the patient, there is no reason not to prescribe the drug. I suspect this ruling will prompt many Nevada patients to leave the state to receive medical assistance elsewhere. I wouldn’t want to live in a state in which the governor rather than my own physician was making medical decisions.
