WH Chief of Staff John Kelly: I’m Not Quitting or Getting Fired

Written by  Melanie Arter

(CNSNews.com) - White House Chief of Staff John Kelly set the record straight, telling reporters at the White House briefing Thursday that contrary to some reports, he is not quitting his job, nor is he getting fired.

“Although I read it all the time pretty consistently, I’m not quitting today. I don’t believe - and I just talked to the president - I don’t think I’m being fired today, and I’m not so frustrated in this job that I’m thinking of leaving,” Kelly said. He said the job of chief of staff is the “hardest” and “most important” job he’s ever had, but not the best job. That honor goes to when he was an enlisted Marine. “I will tell you this is the hardest job I’ve ever had. This is in my view the most important job I ever had. I would offer though it is not the best job I ever had. The best job I ever had as I’ve said many times is when I was an enlisted Marine sergeant infantry member. That was the best job I ever had,” he said. “So unless things change, I’m not quitting. I’m not getting fired, and I don’t think I’ll fire anyone tomorrow,” Kelly said.
