Trump Tweets: 'No Deal Was Made Last Night on DACA'

Written by  Susan Jones

(CNSNews.com) - Contradicting a joint statement issued by Democrat leaders last night, President Trump tweeted early Thursday moring: "No deal was made last night on DACA. Massive border security would have to be agreed to in exchange for consent.

Would be subject to vote."

But following their dinner at the White House, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) issued a statement saying they had struck a deal with Trump on DACA, the deferred deportation program for young "dreamers," which will end in six months unless Congress acts.

“We agreed to enshrine the protections of DACA into law quickly, and to work out a package of border security, excluding the wall, that’s acceptable to both sides,” the Democrats said.

Trump's spokesman, Sarah Sanders, tweeted after the dinner meeting: "While DACA and border security were both discussed, excluding the wall was certainly not agreed to.”

Earlier in the day, a reporter asked Trump, "Why have Leader Pelosi and Senator Schumer over tonight? What's your message for skeptics?"

Trump replied:

Well, I'm a conservative, and I will tell you I'm not skeptical. And I think that, if we can do things in a bipartisan manner, that will be great.
