Nathan Wade, the former prosecutor in the Donald Trump case, is alleged to have nearly half a million dollars in his bank account, despite his claims of inability to pay spousal support due to job loss, according to recent court documents.

The motion, filed in Wade's ongoing divorce case, was brought forth by his estranged wife, Joycelyn Wade. She alleges that Wade's trust account received deposits amounting to at least $495,000 during 2022 and 2023. The documents, procured by The Post, suggest that these funds have not been entirely transferred to his operating accounts, indicating accumulation rather than reliance on these funds.

Wade was compelled to resign from his position as a special prosecutor in the Georgia case following the disclosure of his affair with District Attorney Fani Willis. He had previously claimed that the loss of his prosecutor job resulted in a lack of income, rendering him unable to pay the agreed-upon amount to Joycelyn. This agreement was only reached after his relationship with Willis came to light.

Wade's divorce lawyer, M. Scott Kimbrough, stated in papers filed last week that, "With the income from [Wade's] employment as the Special Prosecutor no longer coming in, and with income from [his] private practice being diminished, [he] is no longer able to … meet the financial obligations set forth in the temporary order."

However, Joycelyn's legal team remains skeptical. They highlighted that Wade reported a significant income from private practice in 2022 and 2023. Furthermore, he testified to receiving cash payments from private practice clients. They argue that Wade has more than sufficient means to meet his obligations.

Joycelyn's attorneys also noted that Wade admitted in court that his income was 60% from the Trump case and 40% from private law practice. They requested the court to reject his motion to modify the alimony and impose legal fees on him.

Wade, who was paid $250 an hour for prosecuting the case against Trump and over a dozen co-defendants, was hired by Willis in her official capacity at the Fulton County District Attorney's office in 2021. Despite their denial of being romantically involved at that time, witnesses have testified that their affair had already commenced.

During the investigation into Wade's affair with Willis, it was revealed that he earned more than $700,000 while working for the DA. He also spent thousands on extravagant trips to the Caribbean and Central America for himself and Willis.

Wade and Willis made national headlines in January when Mike Roman, a co-defendant in the Trump case, revealed their romantic relationship in court documents. Roman requested Willis's removal from the case due to the alleged misconduct.

Fulton County Judge Scott McAfee ruled that even the appearance of misconduct by Wade and Willis warranted one of them stepping down. Wade resigned as special prosecutor on the same day as McAfee's decision, while Willis retained her position.

Following the ruling, Joycelyn subpoenaed Willis in the divorce case, aiming to expose her estranged husband's lavish spending while claiming poverty. Wade and his wife reached a temporary settlement before Willis had to testify.

Despite Willis's continued involvement in the case, attorneys for Trump and his co-defendants have repeatedly appealed for her removal.
