OMG.. now fruit is racist.. cannot bring or eat fruit at any time, this includes bananas as well.. and lord forbid you should bring it all in a brown bag..
Wonder how the fruit industry feels about the attacks against bananas and watermelon? People might be afraid to buy them now, for fear they will be called racist.
The Left can kiss my... Chiquita banana! :P God bless these men. In the military, we served and fought together for this nation. The Left can simply be left behind! (and they can lick it too)!
Sounds like UTTER STUPIDITY to me. A fruit is not racial. Well at least not to normal people it is a food nothing more. Only those looking to be offended will be so by any and everything. The one who fired him is the one who should be gone to get rid of a man over something as STUPID as this is not one who should be in charge.
Aren't these people paid for by the Tax Payers??? They need to DEMAND that the person who wanted to make this a racial act be FIRED Immediately!!!
Calling food racist, should be left to the race baiters...the job of firefighting is a brotherhood where we depend on our fellow men to watch are backs...period! Their is no place for race baiting!
What I always told my daughter when she was a little girl, was that humor is subjective. When I first read this report, I presumed that stupidity had been elevated to a new high.
When everyone else is running OUT of a burning building, firefighters are running IN. As a firefighter, you are quite literally placing your life in the hands of a brother firefighter. I doubt seriously that the 'new guy' was trying to insult the old-timers. At best it was harmless, at worst, stupid.
Kudos to the 'old-timers' for showing that they are the grown-ups in the room.
Do the Detroit Fire Department brass not know that we white folks eat watermelon, too.? Do they REALLY believe that a new firefighter would deliberately risk antagonising his co-workers on his first day at work? Was the joke insensitive? Perhaps. But, was it firing offense? Ask his co-workers (or those who would have been his co-workers).
Cudos to these firemen. We need more men like these willing to stand up to superiors when an injustice is done especially when it's racially motivated. Firefighters are awesome first responders and race has nothing to do with their awesomeness.
