After Termination of Weinstein Imprint, Mika Brzezinski's Three-Book Deal Is Back On

Written by

Last weekend, following the first allegations against Harvey Weinstein, MSNBC anchor Mika Brzezinski tentatively called off her three-book deal with Hachette Book Group imprint Weinstein Books.

She re-iterated on Monday that she wouldn't go forward with the deal even though Weinstein had been fired by The Weinstein Company on Sunday.

But, after Hachette announced on Thursday that the Weinstein Books imprint has been eliminated, Brzezinski said the deal was back on. She made the announcement on Friday morning's edition of Morning Joe.

Brzezinski, who has been complimentary of the "amazing" female Hachette employees she's worked with, said she spoke with Hachette CEO Michael Pietsch about her deal with the company. Brzezinski's books will now be published by Hachette, like all projects that were formerly with the Weinstein Books imprint.

"We’re going to have an ongoing conversation about sexual harassment and wage equity, and I’m really looking forward to all of it," she said on Friday morning.

Brzezinski said her deal with Hachette will be officially re-announced next week. She wrote this week that Weinstein pressured her to announce the deal in the New York Post via Page Six, before she was ready. "Mika told them specifically, 'I don’t want press on this, I'm not ready on this,'" her co-host Joe Scarborough relayed on Friday.
