For weeks, left-leaning Twitter accounts — and even media pundits and elected Democrats —championed the former Republican leader for her work on the January 6th Committee and her resistance to former President Donald Trump. Yet once she had lost her primary — to Trump-supported Harriet Hageman — and hinted at a possible 2024 presidential run, the left started to abandon her.
Larry Middleton (@l78lancer)made it clear that Cheney's attempts at the January 6th Committee were appreciated — yet that did not mean he trusted her with anything beyond that. He tweeted, "Remember folks, Liz Cheney voted with Trump 93% of the time. So, while her work on the 1/6 Committee is purportedly to save democracy, her goal is NOT to save the democrats. Don't get it twisted."
