Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) issued a new campaign ad Monday evening echoing the new movie “Top Gun: Maverick.”

The ad, posted online by first lady Casey DeSantis, features DeSantis taking on the corporate media and fighting back throughout exchanges that he has had with reporters while serving as the state’s governor.

“Good morning ladies and gentlemen, this is your Governor speaking,” DeSantis starts. “Today’s training evolution: dogfighting. Taking on the corporate media.”

“The rules of engagement are as follows: Number one, don’t fire unless fired upon, but when they fire, you fire back with overwhelming force,” DeSantis proceeds in the ad.

“Does it say that in the bill?” DeSantis fires back at one reporter. “I’m asking you to tell me what’s in the bill.”

“Number two, never ever back down from a fight,” DeSantis proceeds in the ad.

The ad then cuts to a reporter yammering, “If I could just complete the question though –.”

“So are you going to give a speech or ask the question?” DeSantis fires back.

DeSantis then resumes in the ad, stating, “Number three, don’t accept their narrative.”

Meanwhile, DeSantis ventured far from his home state Friday to campaign for two fellow Republicans running in critical races this fall.

While his addresses were ostensibly on behalf of the candidates there, they showed a window into what a DeSantis presidential bid — a frequently speculated possibility, especially if and when former President Donald Trump steps aside — could look like.
