Vice President Kamala Harris seemed tongue-tied throughout a Wednesday address at the White House as she was discussing federal investments in workforce development.

Harris was listing off the Biden administration's attempts to support job development and widen access to different career paths when the subject of transportation improvement tripped her up.

"With your help, we are creating good paying jobs in small towns and big cities. Jobs for nurses and doctors, jobs for steel workers, pipe fitters and engineers," the vice president announced.

"Together, we are investing in training programs and apprenticeships that give workers the skills they need to take on the jobs with better wages and better benefits. In particular, workers from underrepresented backgrounds."

On the matter of bettering transportation access for workers, Harris stated: "Together, we are expanding access to transportation. Seems like maybe it's a small issue, it's a big issue."

"You need to get to go, and you to be able to get where you need to go, to do the work, and get home."

It's only the latest in a litany of awkward misspeaks that the vice president has appeared unable to shake.

Harris left brows furrowed earlier this week when she muddled an answer throughout a sit-down interview with CBS News.

She had been questioned whether past Democrat-majority Congresses and liberal administrations had failed in not codifying abortion access in the five decades since Roe v. Wade was decided in 1973.

"I think that, to be very honest with you, I do believe that we should have rightly believed, but we certainly believe that certain issues are just settled. Certain issues are just settled," Harris announced in the Face The Nation interview.

Throughout her Wednesday remarks, Harris further touched on the politically devastating inflation numbers that came out earlier the same day.

The consumer price index grew 9.1 percent in June from the year before, the highest increase since 1981.

Gasoline costs are driving the record-setting increase. Prices at the pump have gone up almost 60 percent, while airfares - affected by the nationwide labor shortage as well as rising gas prices - went up roughly 34 percent.

"There is no question that we still have work to do. But it is important to note that these numbers do not fully reflect the recent drop in gas prices," Harris stated.

"Average national gas prices have fallen every day for nearly 30 days. Since mid-June, prices are down 40 cents a gallon."

President Joe Biden shared a similar sentiment earlier in the day when he said the inflation data was "unacceptably high" but called the figure out of date.
