Must See: Democrats Will Open Federal Land For Abortions, But Not To Allow Oil Drilling?

Throughout an interview with Newsmax TV on Monday, Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) reacted to Democratic suggestions for the Biden administration to use federal lands to conduct abortion by pointing out that many Democrats have attempted to block oil drilling on federal lands, something that would “help every mom in America. It’ll help every dad in America. They won’t do that, but they’ll open it up for abortion.”

Donalds declared, “[T]hese ridiculous policies like using federal lands to conduct abortions on, that’s insane stuff. They won’t give federal lands for drilling for oil, you know, the thing that will help every mom in America. It’ll help every dad in America. They won’t do that, but they’ll open it up for abortion. This is crazy policy from a party that has completely lost their mind and has followed the radical left down a rabbit hole. No, I don’t think it’s going to work for suburban moms. Because suburban moms are concerned about how much it’s going to cost them to fill up their tank, they’re concerned about how much it costs to put food on the table, and they’re concerned, is their child actually getting an education or are they getting an indoctrination? And that’s where the radical left is taking us and they don’t like it, just like no other voter in America likes it.”

Just days following the court ruled to strike down the landmark 1973 decision that guaranteed abortion rights nationwide, a White House official announced that the Democratic proposal was “well-intentioned” though that it “could put women and providers at risk.”

“Importantly, in states where abortion is now illegal, women and providers who are not federal employees could potentially be prosecuted,” the official stated.

Vice President Kamala Harris further downplayed the proposal Monday in a CNN interview.

“It’s not, right now, what we are discussing,” Harris announced.

Before Friday's Supreme Court ruling, over two dozen Democratic senators addressed a letter pressing President Joe Biden to issue an executive order directing federal agencies to map out a plan to guarantee protections for abortion services wherever possible.

In the letter, the group of 25 senators suggested June 7 that the Justice Department "could analyze the types of reproductive health services that could be provided on federal property, especially in states where such services are limited by state law or regulation."

Among those who signed the letter were Sens. Debbie Stabenow of Michigan and Sherrod Brown of Ohio. Michigan has an anti-abortion law that was on the books though unenforceable after the 1973 Roe decision, while Ohio is one of the 13 states with so-called trigger laws, which were created to snap into effect immediately or soon after Roe was reversed.

Questioned regarding other steps the Biden administration plans to take, the White House official said Biden will proceed to emphasize that “only Congress can fix the situation."
