"When Casey wouldn't have an abortion, Jeff told her she was going to regret it, that she shouldn't expect any help from him," a source told the tabloid. Despite being an advocate for abortion rights, Toobin, who is 13 years older than Greenfield, reportedly refused to acknowledge the child as his own and only agreed to pay child support after a Manhattan Family Court judge ordered him to do so.

However, in 2020, he was fired from the New Yorker, where he had worked for 27 years, after he was caught masturbating during a Zoom call with the organization's senior staff. This incident, which Toobin referred to as a "disaster in my life," led to him being off-air on CNN for a year before he was eventually reinstated.
Rick Sanchez, a former CNN anchor who left the network in 2010, criticized the network's decision to keep Toobin on air, calling it "typical hypocrisy that's a constant at CNN."
