In a recent evaluation of Vice President Kamala Harris' popularity among voters in Arizona, the results were less than favorable.

The assessment was conducted following Harris' speech in the state on April 12, by the political group "Republican Voters Against Trump" (RVAT). The group presented video interviews from three distinct focus groups: former Trump 2016 voters who switched to Biden in 2020, Black voters expressing disappointment with Biden, and a group identified as "California Democrats."

Gunner Ramer, the political director for RVAT, summarized the analysis of Harris, stating, "Swing voters don’t like her." The Los Angeles Times described the voters' assessments as "brutal," and reported the following reflections from the focus groups:

On April 15, Harris delivered a speech in Tucson, just three days after the state's supreme court permitted the enforcement of an 1864 abortion law. In her speech, Harris criticized former President Donald Trump, attributing the court's ruling to his influence and stating, "Just like he did in Arizona, he basically wants to take America back to the 1800s."

However, the report revealed that not all voters were aware of Harris' recent visit to the state. It stated, "Several voters said in interviews in Phoenix on Monday that they were not aware Harris was in their state just a few days ago, underscoring the challenge of getting attention as a vice president in an era of information overload."

Tracey Sayles, a 52-year-old Black Democrat, expressed her disappointment, saying, "If she is coming for us, she doesn’t show it." Sayles, who previously voted for Democrats Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden, is now undecided about the upcoming election. Despite her distaste for Trump's "vulgarity," she expressed uncertainty due to concerns about Biden's health, stating that he "looks like he's ill." Sayles added that she would have attended Harris' speech in Tucson had she known about it, and expressed the sentiment that the vice president has been absent.

In the group of Black voters expressing disappointment with Biden, the report noted, "...none raised their hand in support of Harris, with one participant calling her 'the bad news bear.'"

The report also highlighted the views of the California Democrats group, stating, "A focus group of California Democrats, while they liked Harris, had to be prompted to discuss her and said she needed more influence and exposure."

Jeff Garland, a retired military member who voted for Trump in 2016 and Biden in 2020, expressed skepticism about Harris, admitting that he hasn't seen much of her. He stated, "But from what I have seen of her, she doesn’t look like someone I want running my country." Garland indicated that he plans to abstain from voting in 2024.

Danielle Alvarez, a senior advisor to the Trump campaign, suggested that Harris is irrelevant in the race to the White House, stating, "Political reality is that Biden’s under water and he is a failed president. She is certainly probably equal to him in those failures, but he is the target."

Brian Fallon, the communications director for the Harris campaign, argued that Harris is, "...uniquely positioned to mobilize critical groups across the Biden-Harris coalition, including both progressives and independents."

However, the focus group reports suggest that after four years in the Biden Administration, Harris is either unfamiliar to swing and left-leaning voters or is outright undesirable.
