The Florida Highway Patrol detained Celestine and levied charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and improper discharge of a weapon against her.
The arrest followed reports of an active shooter in Holmes County, to which troopers promptly responded. Investigations revealed that Celestine, after checking out of a local hotel, informed the staff of her intention to embark on a shooting rampage under the direction of "God," in connection to the solar eclipse that occurred on Monday.
Allegedly steering a purple Dodge Challenger with Georgia license plates onto westbound Interstate 10 at the 112-mile marker, Celestine purportedly opened fire on a vehicle within a five-mile stretch of entering the interstate, inflicting multiple hits on the vehicle. One driver sustained minor injuries from shattered glass and a grazing bullet wound on the arm but managed to maneuver to the interstate shoulder.

Continuing her westward trajectory, Celestine purportedly targeted another vehicle near the 107-mile marker, shooting the driver in the neck. The injured driver received medical attention at a nearby hospital. Subsequently, troopers intercepted Celestine approximately nine miles ahead, effecting a peaceful arrest.
