Robert F. Kennedy Jr., an independent presidential candidate, is anticipated to pose a significant challenge to President Joe Biden in crucial swing states.

This potential shift in voter preference has sparked concern among liberal media outlets, who argue that Biden's continued leadership is essential for the survival of democracy beyond November 2024.

CNN's Erin Burnett, a prominent Democratic commentator, recently portrayed Kennedy, 70, as a potential "spoiler" whose success could indirectly threaten democracy. However, Kennedy rejected this narrative during a recent interview, countering Burnett's fear-mongering tactics.

Burnett, the host of "Erin Burnett OutFront," referred to recent polls suggesting that Kennedy could attract 12% of the Democratic vote in Georgia, compared to only 5% of the Republican vote. She questioned Kennedy, asking, "So when you look at it that way, how can you say that your campaign is not taking more [votes] from Biden?"

Kennedy responded, "I don't care one way or the other," suggesting that his potential voters are likely disillusioned Americans who might otherwise abstain from voting.

Burnett then asked Kennedy if he genuinely believed that Trump and Biden were similar threats to democracy. Kennedy responded, "I make the argument that President Biden is a much worse threat to democracy," citing Biden's unprecedented use of federal agencies to censor political speech and opponents.

Kennedy referenced a recent case he won in the federal court of appeals, now before the Supreme Court, arguing that Biden began censoring him just 37 hours after taking office. He stated, "No president in the country has ever done that."

The Supreme Court recently heard arguments regarding whether the Biden administration violated the Constitution by pressuring social media companies to suppress free speech in favor of its preferred narratives. Last year, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals agreed with a district court's finding of a "coordinated campaign" orchestrated by federal officials that threatened a fundamental aspect of American life.

U.S. District Judge Terry A. Doughty wrote that the Biden administration "used its power to silence the opposition" on various issues, including COVID-19 vaccines, lockdowns, the 2020 election, and Biden's policies.

Kennedy has experienced censorship efforts firsthand. Instagram banned him in 2021 for "repeatedly shar[ing] debunked claims about the coronavirus or vaccines." In 2022, Facebook and Instagram banned Kennedy's Children's Health Defense organization for criticizing the administration's narrative about the safety and efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines.

Kennedy told Burnett, "The greatest threat to democracy is not somebody who questions election returns, but a president of the United States who used the power of his office to force the social media companies — Facebook, Instagram, Twitter — to open up a portal and give access to that portal to the FBI, to the CIA, to the IRS, to CISA, to NIH, to censor his political critics."

He also criticized Biden for refusing to provide him with Secret Service protection "for political reasons," resulting in his campaign accruing millions in debt to a private security firm.

Kennedy concluded, "If you have a government that can silence its opponent, it has license for any atrocity."

Steve Bannon, former Trump strategist, recently suggested that "Bobby Kennedy is a dagger at the heart of the Democratic Party. ... And they know this. This is why they're coming down on him so hard."
