In a horrifying incident that unfolded in Queens, New York, a woman was brutally stabbed to death allegedly by her boyfriend, who then turned the knife on himself.

The incident took place at the Céilí House pub, leaving patrons shocked and horrified.

Sarah McNally, a 41-year-old Irish immigrant, was reportedly attacked by her boyfriend just after 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, according to a spokesperson from the New York Police Department. McNally succumbed to her injuries on the pub floor, while her assailant, a 36-year-old man, was transported to the hospital in critical condition with self-inflicted stab wounds to his head and neck.

The New York Post identified the man as McNally's boyfriend of several months, who allegedly attacked her before injuring himself. A female patron at the pub recounted the chilling incident to the outlet, saying, "McNally was just standing there talking when her boyfriend just walked right in and stabbed her. Then he started trying to stab himself. Horrible. Just horrible!"

The motive behind the brutal attack remains unclear. Sources informed the outlet that there was no known history of domestic violence between the couple prior to the fatal incident. However, the man had a previous arrest for domestic violence, as reported by the New York Daily News.

As he recovers from his self-inflicted wounds, charges against the attacker are pending, according to the Daily News. Patron Mike Green, who knew the couple, expressed his disbelief to the outlet, saying, "They were always together. Both of them. That’s why it blew my mind a little bit."

Green described McNally as a good person who was always ready to help others. "Everybody owes her money," he added.

When police arrived at the scene, the boyfriend reportedly held knives in each hand and refused to drop them, leading the officers to use stun guns on him, as per sources cited by the Post.

McNally, who hailed from Longford, a county in central Ireland, had been working at the pub for just a year. She was described as a "sweet, innocent girl" by bar regular Mike Lambe. Prior to moving to the States, McNally had worked as a corrections officer in Ireland, Green informed the Daily News.

Lambe, who lives just two blocks from the pub, expressed his concern about the increasing issues with drug dealers and users in the area. "It's been getting worse and worse," he told the outlet.
